After years of service in Fairfield County, Chief comes to the CRV with his expert management and communication skills as he fights community threats on the street...on the campus...and in cyberspace. He has been on our air for nearly all of our eight years and shares his passion for keeping our families, homes, and communities safe on APB in the CRV.

Chief Vincent (Vince) DeMaio currently commands the Clinton Police Department. Vince and his family are recent transplants to the CRV. He began his career with the New Canaan Police Department on September 11th, 1989.  Chief DeMaio has an extensive background in law enforcement operations, investigations, training and administration.  During his career in New Canaan he worked his way through the ranks, holding numerous positions in the Agency, including: Patrol Officer, Dispatcher, Training Officer, Detective, Information Liaison Officer, Accreditation Manager, Patrol Supervisor (Sergeant), Watch Commander (Lieutenant) and
Detective Commander. He completed his career in New Canaan in 2016 as the Captain of the Operations Division; second in command of the Department and responsible for delivery of all law enforcement services to the community.

Vince holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of New Haven.  He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy’s 260th Session and he holds numerous other certifications and law enforcement credentials. Chief DeMaio is a member of the International Chiefs of Police Association (IACP), the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) and the South Central Chiefs of Police Association (SCCoPA). Vince is currently the 2nd Vice President of the Executive Board of Police Association of Connecticut (PAC) and he is also the South Central Representative for the Executive Board of the Connecticut Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA). Vince is a strong proponent of Community-Oriented Policing and he believes that effective law enforcement is best achieved through a three-pronged approach of Education, Enforcement and Communication.
