  1. Navigation…map and compass…learn the basics as apps do not always work.
  2. Sun Protection…so that is a hat…sunglasses…and sunscreen.
  3. Insulation…always bring extra clothing…
  4. Illumination…headlamp is often preferred as hands can be free…but at least a good flashlight.
  5. First Aid Supplies…a must and can be very light..they come already put together…
  6. Fire..so waterproof matches, a lighter…even a candle.
  7. Repair Kit and Tools…knife and duct tape.
  8. Nutrition…have a few extra energy bars…
  9. Hydration…extra water…weighs less the more you drink…bring it along…
  10. Emergency Shelter…tent…plastic tube tent…even a garbage bag can be tailored for rain protection…
  11. An Extra One…bring a whistle..so others can hear if you are in need…
